How does the booking process work?
Browse our crew directory, filter by role, experience, and availability, then send a booking request with your dates and vessel details. The crew member will accept or decline within their stated response time. Once accepted, you confirm and pay securely through the platform.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made more than 7 days before the booking start date receive a full refund. Cancellations within 3-7 days receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 72 hours are non-refundable. Crew members can also cancel, in which case you receive a full refund and priority rebooking assistance.
what certifications do crew members hold?
All crew on CRWDEX must hold current STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) as a minimum. Additional certifications vary by role and include Master 5, Engineering certificates (ENG 1/2), Medical (MED 1/2/3), GMDSS, HELM, Food Safety, RSA, and more. All certifications are verified during the onboarding process.
How is pricing determinded?
Crew members set their own daily rates based on their experience, qualifications, and market demand. Rates are displayed on each profile so you can compare before booking. The total cost is calculated as the daily rate multiplied by the number of days booked.
Is insurance included?
CRWDEX does not provide insurance directly. Yacht owners are responsible for ensuring adequate P&I (Protection and Indemnity) cover for any crew working aboard their vessel. We recommend confirming your insurance covers freelance crew before booking.
Are crew members background checked?
Yes. All crew undergo identity verification and certification checks during the onboarding process. We verify that all listed certifications are current and issued by recognised maritime authorities. Additionally, crew build trust through the review and rating system from previous bookings.
How do payments work?
Payments are processed securely through Stripe. When a booking is confirmed, the full amount is charged to your payment method. Funds are held securely and released to the crew member after the booking is completed. We accept all major credit and debit cards.
what is the platform comission?
CRWDEX charges a service fee that is included in the displayed booking price. This fee covers payment processing, platform maintenance, crew verification, and customer support. The exact commission percentage is transparent in the booking summary. How do I become a crew member on CRW DEX?

Sign up as a crew member, complete your profile with experience, certifications, and availability, then submit for verification. Our team reviews your credentials and, once approved, your profile goes live on the marketplace. The entire process typically takes 2-3 business days.

CRWDEX supports crew hiring for motor yachts, sailing yachts, catamarans, and commercial vessels of all sizes. You can filter crew by their vessel size experience to find professionals familiar with your specific type and size of vessel.
How do crew manage their availability?
Crew members have a built-in availability calendar in their dashboard where they can mark dates as available, unavailable, or already booked. This ensures yacht owners can see real-time availability and only submit requests for dates that work.
What if I need help or have a dispute?
Our support team is available via email and through the platform messaging system. For booking disputes, we offer a mediation process to resolve issues fairly. Our goal is to ensure both yacht owners and crew have a positive experience on the platform.
